Spring Activities

We had a great week of enjoying some nice weather and getting ready for more fun spring activities!

On Monday, Hudson had his one-year check-up. He's doing great, and has moved down from the 90th percentile in weight to the 60th! I guess our dieting and exercise has paid off (just kidding). He's 75th in height and I can't remember the head measurement. But it looks like he's starting to level out like Raegan did at this age. My back still feels like he is one heavy baby (23lbs 3 oz)! He climbed out of his crib during nap time on Sunday and fell to the floor with the loudest "thud!" It really scared us, but he seems to be fine. Tony immediately lowered his crib matress to the lowest setting, and it's practically on the floor now!

We went to the zoo on Wednesday with the Martins (see slideshow), and the weather was perfect! It was so nice to spend the day outside, and even get some sun. Tony and some co-workers did the full Olympic triathlon course for practice on Wednesday afternoon. He was exhausted at the end, but I think it's pretty impressive that he did the whole thing and the race is not until May! Tony has been really busy lately, and I think he's finally starting to agree with me that more sleep will give him more energy. That only took 10.5 years :)

The kids and I enjoyed more nice weather in our neighbors' cul-de-sac Friday afternoon. Ah, the life of a stay at home mom...so much nicer when it's sunny and warm!

Saturday was the neighborhood Spring Fling, complete with easter egg hunt, games, and food. We had a great time (see slideshow).

We are looking forward to celebrating Jesus on Easter this Sunday!

Hudson 1yr tricks video

We just made a post last night but I forgot to add this video. This video shows Hudson doing a couple of the tricks he has learned in his first year of life. (sorry the video lost some quality when we compressed it)

Hudson turns One!!

Hudson turned 1 on Friday. This 1st year with Hudson has flown by. We are so happy with Hudson and I think Raegan & Hudson really do love each other. I think even the dogs like Hudson.
For Hudson's B'day, we had a family party and invited the grandparents & Aunts & Uncles. I think everyone had a good time. There are pictures in the slideshow below. And below is a shot of Hudson at the party & also his 1 year shot in his usual pose.

Also last week, I went to a conference in Orlando at the Rosen Shingle Creek (pictured below) and left Hannah here to take care of the kids and put together Hudson's party on her own. Hannah survived but she and both kids did get sick with a stomach bug while I was out. Hannah did awesome to survive all of them getting sick & putting the party together while I was suffering at this resort.

Fantastic!

Raegan's latest word is, "fantastic!" The other night, Tony put her to bed and she got up a few minutes later (a common event lately), saying she needed to poop. After sitting in the bathroom for a few minutes, Tony said, "you're not really doing anything are you?" to which Raegan responded with a "little poop." Tony asked if she was finished, and Raegan said, "that was a little one. Now I'm going to do a FANTASTIC one!" with both fingers pointing to the sky. And she did.

We sure are ready for some warm weather! This week was so rainy and it feels like we spent way too much time indoors. We did manage to get out a little when the rain stopped, but we are ready for some fun outdoor activities to begin (going to the zoo, the pool, the playground). On Monday, we spent the morning with our neighbor Irene and her daughter Mallory while the weather was nice. She's just a few weeks older than Raegan and they played great together (Mallory is on the far left in this post, at Halloween 2007). We spent the afternoon with my sister Jennifer and Madison, the girl she nannies. Raegan thinks Jennifer is Madi's mommy, which we think is pretty funny.

On Tuesday, the kids and I created an indoor "tent" and read books by flashlight inside. It only entertained them for about 20 minutes.

The rest of the week was rainy and we went to small group, bunko, the usual activities. Saturday was a packed day with a baby shower, one-year-old bday party, yard work (for Tony), and a date night. Raegan and Hudson enjoyed and evening with Mimi, eating dinner and making cookies together.

I've been putting Arnica on my bruise from when I slipped on the stairs, but it's still pretty painful. I'm going to the dr. tomorrow to make sure there aren't any complications with it. Tony and Brad did a long bike/run today in preparation for the Peachtree City International Triathalon in May. They biked 30 miles, then ran 6.2 miles. For the race, they'll be doing a 0.9 mile swim before the bike and run!

Not many pictures this week, so no slideshow. Hudson turns 1 this Friday!!

haircuts, bikings & visiting Nana & Granny...

A lot has happened since the last post. First thing to mention, is that on Friday, Hannah slipped on our stairs and really bruised her back/bottom. I think it would actually be termed a hemotoma (sp?). Hannah is better now, but she is really purple where she fell and she can't move really well.

Happier things that have happened this week is that Raegan got her first haircut. Hudson is sprouting another tooth (tooth #4). He is really good at pushing chairs or anything around the house.

On Saturday, Hannah worked a shift at a consignment sale so I took the kids down to see my grandmother (Granny) and my mother (Nana). Both kids had fun & so did I.

On Sunday, I got to go on a long bike & run (I'm training for another triathlon) while Hannah took the kids to the playground and they got to watch some of the ladies tennis matches (Hannah is playing day leagues now so she is not on the Sunday team).

After my bike, I got to take both kids on a short bike with a bicycle child seat. I've been wanting to do that for a while. Hudson loved it... and Raegan liked it but said it was a little scary.

Anyway... here is a slideshow of some pictures from all of this.

A crazy week!

First of all...is it already another month for Hudson? Yes, he is 11 months old!! He is starting to get another tooth, on the top this time. We're trying to encourage him to use a sippy cup more often, but he still loves his bottles. He will push anything that moves around the house, but has no interest in walking with anyone's help (or by himself)! I can tell he's going to be very independent. He also prefers food that he can eat himself, although he doesn't like to do much chewing. He loves his swing in the backyard, and playing with his dogs (see slideshow for a tribute to Hudson and Bristo). His hair is starting to form a little curl in the back, but still not much on top. He talks a lot, but the only thing we can pick out is the occasional "dada."

We are so glad to be home again and starting a "normal" week. Chick-fil-A hosted their annual Operator Seminar (the corporate office hosts the owner/operators for a week of info, inspiration, and fun). This year, it was in Washington, D.C. Tony went several days early (as usual)to setup all the technology related logistics for the conference. While he was gone, Raegan got sick with fever of 105, which is very high for anyone, but especially her. I took her to the doctor and it was a "severe ear infection," but thankfully no flu or strep throat. She recovered very quickly and was running around the house later that evening. Nana (Tony's mom) came on Saturday and I flew out to meet Tony. We were there from Sat - Friday, which was a LONG time to be away from our kids! We missed them so much, but our parents did an awesome job of taking care of them at house while we were gone. Mimi and Granddad (my parents) took over on Tuesday, with Lesley coming for part of the day. So Raegan and Hudson had lots of wonderful caregivers in a week and seemed to handle it all just fine! They even visited with Drew and Tyler (next door) while my Granddad went to pick up Mimi from work. We thank God over and over for all of our family and friends!

After Tony being gone for 10 days and me for 7, we are certainly glad to be home with our kids. Tony has a lot of catching up to do at work, and I start tennis lessons. We hope you all have a great week!
