Hudson - 1 month old

Yesterday Hudson turned 1 month old. I can't believe a month has already gone by! He was really calm the first couple weeks and the past two he has been a little more fussy. We think we have it figured out and we're looking forward to learning him better.

Raegan is still liking him and she seems to be adjusting well. She has become a lot more independent if anything.

Hannah & I are doing well too!

These are the beginning of our monthly pictures of Hudson. Over this year, we can see how much he grows next to his little bear.

This is just a couple shots of Raegan & Hudson lying on our bed. They seemed sweet together.

Another big thing that happened this past week is that we bought a van! I've always liked vans. Hannah has always not liked them. She admitted by the end of the weekend that she likes our van. And I love it! See below (Hannah is so happy behind the wheel!).

We decided we needed a van since 2 kids and 2 dogs and all that come along with that make for a crowded vehicle. And I needed a justification to get a van. Isn't my ride sweet?!

Raegan likes all the room and likes watching Elmo on the way home from school (on the DVD system)...

This is a cute picture of Raegan standing in front of my Mazda after school. (I was clearing some pictures from my Blackberry)

On Saturday morning, we went to a party in the park celebrating Ashlyn and Hannah Leary's B'days. Raegan enjoyed pizza & playing on the playground. We enjoyed visiting with friends.

Then on Saturday afternoon, we went to a 30yr B'day party for Chris Waddell. There were so many kids, it almost seemed like a kid's party. Raegan had more pizza...

On Sunday Hannah spent most of the day with Raegan and I spent most with Hudson. Hannah took Raegan to church and in the afternoon they went to a dinner with Mimi, Aunt Jennifer and some other girls. Hudson and I just hung out at home all day. I think all had fun.
That's it for now. Have a good week!

Happy Easter!! & Happy B'Day Raegan!!

Happy Easter! This weekend was Easter and Raegan also turned 2 years old!

For Raegan's B'day, we had a little family gathering at our house. Raegan enjoyed it! She (& we) appreciate all of the love from our family!

Later in the afternoon, after the family left, Drew brought Raegan a B'day gift too. So Raegan got to see a lot of her favorite people all on her B'day!

This is a slideshow of Raegan's Birthday Day.

Hudson was really not a happy camper Saturday night. I'm glad he was good for Raegan's Birthday. Mostly after Raegan went to bed, Hudson just didn't seem himself. We decided he had a stomach ache.

Anyway, today (Sunday) he seemed much better. We didn't make it to church this morning. We still appreciate today as Jesus' resurrection. But we just couldn't get it together for church. We still had a fun day. We dyed Easter eggs and played outside some.

Here are some shots from today.

During the week, we went over and met Tyler. He is Drew's brother and was born less than 3 weeks after Hudson. Here are some shots of them together... (can you tell which on is Hudson?... new borns look pretty similar!) You can tell how much a newborn grows in 3 weeks time. It's pretty crazy!

Raegan & Drew coloring while their brothers meet each other...

Have a good week!

3 Weeks In...

Hi all,

Hudson was born 3 weeks ago. And we're all still surviving! He is becoming more alert and though I would say he is still easier than Raegan was, he is not always content. He has moments of being frustrated even though all the basic needs are met. But we're still figuring each other out.

Hannah is doing well. She says the hardest thing right now is the nursing. Hudson still isn't great at that. But he takes a bottle well. Hannah has taken him out for a walk or to the a store a couple of times now.

Lately I've been too lazy to really sort through our pictures so I just narrow them down a little and throw them into a slideshow. So... here is my first slideshow. Just a few random pictures of Hudson (& Raegan).

This past weekend, our neighborhood had its annual Spring Fling. Here are some shots of that. They had little games, sack race, food & of course a little Easter Egg hunt for the kids.

After the Spring Fling, Hannah took Raegan to a party at one of our friend's house. I stayed home with Hudson (since we figured we shouldn't over-do having Hudson in crowds yet). At the party, Raegan got to do another Easter Egg hunt, ate good cake and loved their swing...

Last night, we hosted our small group to our house for a social night. It was good to see everyone and some brought their kids too. Hudson slept the whole time and I think Raegan enjoyed herself. Here are just a few candid shots I took.

In previous posts we mentioned 3 girls in our neighborhood who had children around the same time we had Raegan and they were all due around the same time we were due with Hudson... well all of them have had their 2nd babies now. So welcome Tyler, Alley & Larson! All within 3 weeks of Hudson!!

This Saturday Raegan turns 2 years old!! We're having a family B'day party for her. Raegan is really excited... at every party (or crowd of people) she has been around lately, she asks us "Raegan's Birthday??". Well her Birthday will finally be here on Saturday!

Lastly, this is just a random picture of what Raegan had on her head one day when I picked her up from daycare. Silly girl! We didn't send her in with that head piece... but all of a sudden I was craving Maple Syrup and pancakes.

Have a good week!

The dust is settling...

Hi all,

Well the dust is settling and we're getting more used to having 2 kids! Hudson is doing well. He still sleeps a lot and doesn't nurse real well. But he's a pretty content baby. In his first week, he was only waking once during the night. But now he is waking more & since I've started back to work, Hannah is pulling the night duty. She is doing really well handling everything! She said she doesn't even feel like she is lacking sleep... though at the end of the day she is tired. Hannah has already pushed Hudson around the neighborhood in the stroller & gone grocery shopping (with Raegan, Hannah's recovery was much slower).

Hannah took Hudson to the doctor this morning because his left eye kept having some goop in it. Also, his breathing still sounds kind of weezy. And he threw-up a good bit the other night.

The Pediatrician said he has a blocked tear duct that is causing the goop. It should go away and we can help by massaging the tear duct. (it seems to have already resolved itself). Also... his breathing sound is a little acid reflux. Raegan had that too. If it gets worse, they'll prescribe something for it.

Otherwise, his health is good and Hudson seems to be a little more alert than he was a week ago. He weighed in at 9lb 4oz. So he is gaining weight really well!

Here is a picture of Hannah with Hudson.

OK... just kidding that is actually not Hudson. That is our friend Barbara's son, Luke, who came over to meet Hudson. Luke is about 7 months old (I think).

Here is a slideshow of some pictures of Hudson and some of the many friends who have come by to see Hudson. We have had so many people bring us food and they're still coming! We are surrounded by awesome people! And I'm getting fat!

Many have asked how Raegan is handling being a big sister. We think she is doing great. She loves him and doesn't seem to mind sharing him with us. She has her 2 year old moments but we don't think it has anything to do with Hudson. This slideshow will show you just how cool Raegan is right now (at least the 1st few pictures show that).

Some people have asked how Hudson's room turned out. We didn't do anything fancy... but here are some pictures of his room.

One last picture to share and truthfully Hannah probably wishes I wouldn't post this. But Raegan had school pictures done a couple weeks ago. I knew Raegan wasn't really happy with having her picture taken that day but I was still hopeful we had a good shot. When they were giving out the pictures at the daycare, I was standing with a couple of my friends who also have kids there. Their pictures looked perfect. Then I opened-up Raegan's picture and it broke my heart - she is on the verge of crying in the picture. But it's the kind of picture you still like to look at because it moves your heart. (Raegan really is a happy kid despite the picture below).

Below is her classroom picture. You can see she still wasn't thrilled - she's sucking her thumb!

Hopefully we can share some more pictures of Hudson soon!

Hudson Eli Miley is Home!

Hudson Eli Miley was born on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 12:28pm. He weighed 8lb 14oz and was 22in long. Big boy!! He is healthy and Hannah is recovering well! Raegan has accepted her little brother and really seems to like him. She even wants to help do things like get his socks.

He is really cute and really good. He only cries when he's hungry or if he has a dirty diaper. I hope he keeps that cool disposition! He seems content to just sit or lay there and look around. Hannah and I are really having to adjust to changing a little boy diaper verses a little girl diaper. Right now our assessment is that girl diapers are much easier to change!

Here is a slideshow of our time at the hospital. Here you'll see us with the mid-wife who delivered Hudson. She also delivered Raegan. Hannah's Mom & I helped with the delivery as much as we could. You'll see some of our nurses, friends and family who came to see us... and Raegan's first meeting with Hudson.

While we were at the hospital, Nana & Papa kept Raegan at our house. I don't think Raegan even missed us. Here is a slideshow of some of what was going on while we were away.

Finally, once we got home, Nana & Papa stayed a little longer and then it was just us. It wasn't as scary as I once would have thought. The next day, Mimi & Granddad came over for a while and played with Raegan & Hudson. Also, Carrie brought Raegan a nice purse & a "Big Sis" shirt. And Brian, Karen & Drew came over and met Hudson. They brought Raegan some Moon Sand which is really cool! The picture of them holding Hudson shows them laughing. It's actually the hysteria they felt knowing in just a couple of weeks they'll be holding their own new addition!

I'll post more pictures once we get ourselves gathered and I can take more pictures!! Thanks to you all for your love and support!

Hudson Eve

Hi all... it's Hudson Eve. Actually, we're at the hospital now just waiting on contractions to get strong enough for the epidural. We were dialated 3cm and 50% effaced on Tuesday so they scheduled us to induce this morning if not already in labor. So we're waiting. In the meantime, I thought I would share the following:

This is Hannah in front of the bed where Hudson will enter this world!

This is a slideshow of us spending some time with our neighbors and Raegan yesterday. It seemed like the calm before the storm. The other 2 girls in the picture are Danielle and Karen. Danielle is inducing on Monday and Karen is due in a about 3 weeks.

This is a St. Patrick's Day parade Raegan was in with her day care. It was cute and before she knew I was there, she was waving & dancing. She loved it.

One more big news... Raegan has "Pee-Pee in the Potty" a few times now! On Sunday night as we were getting her out of her bath, she said "Pee-Pee Potty". We sat her on the potty and she peed. And now she's done it a few times since then. She still has wet accidents in her diaper and the other kind of accident... but she's on a good start!

The next post will definitely be pictures of Hudson!!!

...Still not in Labor...

Hi everyone, We're still not in labor. Our due date is exactly 1 week from today. We were kind of hoping we would go into labor this weekend but no such luck! Hannah is still feeling good other than uncomfortable. She has a doctor appointment on Tuesday and of course they'll probably suggest inducing. We're not sure yet if we want to do that. Hannah leans toward not inducing. I can't decide what I think.

We went out Friday night with the Cohen's and ate Mexican food. The Cohen's house (Drew's house) is where Raegan will be going when we leave for the hospital if all goes as planned. Hannah had some funny feelings while at the restaurant and we were sure it meant we would be going to the hospital that night. I guess is was just the Mexican food talking.

Saturday morning we went to Kangazoom for Gianna Marie's 2 year B'day party. Kangazoom is a really neat place with a lot of inflatable play areas. Raegan mostly wanted to watch other kids play. She thought she wanted to go on a big slide with me but once we got up there, she got upset. Mostly she just wanted to walk around the place holding Hannah's hand.

Then the rest of Saturday we did more prep for Hudson's arrival. Sunday morning we went to Church. Raegan got promoted to another classroom. She seemed to really enjoy it.
Sunday afternoon we took the dogs for a walk & Raegan in the wagon around the neighborhood. We thought maybe the walking would help stimulate some kind of labor in Hannah. Still nothing. But Raegan loved the wagon ride.
Then Sunday evening, we met 3 other families from the neighborhood at Five Guys. All 4 women are pregnant and due at least by the 2nd week of April. Our due date is the closest. We each already have a 2 year old or younger. Here is a little slideshow.

Here are a couple more cute pictures from the week.
Raegan trying to wear my shoes.
Raegan trying to play "Ring-around-the-Rosie" with the dogs...
Raegan loving on Luci...
That's it for now. Hopefully the next post will have pictures of Hudson!!

Fun-filled weekend

We had an eventful weekend - I thought for sure I would go into labor by the end of it! It's Monday, and nothing is happening yet. 13 days and counting.

I took Raegan to the zoo for the first time on Friday, and we both had a great time. Our friends April, Amanda, and Amanda's two kids - Aidan and Caroline joined us. Aidan and Raegan enjoyed seeing all the animals, but Aidan was most interested in the train. Everytime we moved to a new animal, he asked about riding the train. You'll see in the slideshow where he just watched train tracks until the train came by, and then ran alongside it. Too cute. We finally rode the train at the very end, and he and Raegan really enjoyed it. We were there from 9:30 until about 2, and I was exhausted! Never realized how hilly the zoo was. There is a shot in the slideshow of Raegan laying on the ground - she was acting like the baby monkey on the other side of the glass. She said her favorite animal was the "eebra" (zebra).

On Saturday, Tony's parents came over for a visit and then we all went to Jason and Mina's house for Thomas' 4-year-old birthday party. They had bubble-makers, which was really cool since Raegan hasn't mastered the art of blowing bubbles yet. The things we learn from other parents...

On Sunday, I co-hosted a baby shower at Carrie's house for our friend Lauren, who is due in May. We really had fun preparing for and hosting the shower (there were 5 hosts). Tony took Raegan jogging on the Silver Comet trail while I was gone, and she really enjoyed going fast in the jogging stroller. He ran 3 miles pushing the stroller, and then he and Rae stretched together afterwards. Wish I could have seen that! That night, Tony and Brian played tennis while Karen, Drew, Raegan, and I watched from the playground.

There is a full moon this week, so does anybody want to bet on us having the baby early?! : )

We're full term today!

Hi all! Today we are officially full term on our pregnancy. Our due date is March 22... but today is considered full term. Hannah & Hudson are still doing well. Of course Hannah is uncomfortable but she says she feels better now that she's over the ear infection.

Hannah had a couple showers this week. We're really thankful to all of our friends who honored our new boy, Hudson with the showers. We really didn't expect anything for a 2nd baby... but the people around us are just so generous and caring!

In other news, Raegan is getting more and more comfortable with sitting on her little training potty in her bedroom. She still has not actually done anything but she'll sit on the toilet and make a cute face like she is going to. I think we may have been trying to help her do something with a grunt kind of face & noise and she turned it into something cute (but still with no results). Here are a couple pictures:

Who would have thought a poop face could be so cute?

Saturday morning was one of those showers given for us that Hannah went to. My brother and his family drove down and Mina rode with Hannah to the shower and Jason & I took all 3 kids to IKEA. Jason was returning something and my mission was to get a little table & chairs for Raegan.

The kids had a great time at IKEA. While we were waiting on Jason to do his return. Thomas, Ava & Raegan played "Ring Around the Rosie". Raegan just learned this earlier in the week with other kids. So she knew the game and really likes it. Here are a few shots of that...

Then they all checked the vending machines for change left behind...

Thomas led Raegan around the store holding her hand. She really liked it because anytime Thomas ran to look at something, Raegan would follow him and try to grab his hand again.

They all thought the round bed was cool...

Here is a slideshow of some of Hannah's friends that were at the shower on Saturday morning. Amanda took the shots and was quick to burn them to CD and give them to us that afternoon.

Then on Saturday afternoon, we went to a shower for a couple in our new small group. I took quite a few pictures but they're all kind of candid and so maybe I'll share pictures of the new small group once I take some better shots.

Raegan made some new friends at the small group. Raegan is a little slow to warm-up to people most of the time. Well... guess what broke the ice with Raegan's new friends? Ring Around the Rosie!

Not only do I have these pictures... I have a little video clip of Raegan playing Ring Around the Rosie both times on Saturday.

The other new friend Raegan made at the shower was of course a doggie. The second picture is all the kids being excited about the doggie.

After all of the activity on Saturday we were pretty beat when we got home. Raegan wanted to watch Elmo... and that was fine with us since we were tired. I sat on the couch and Hannah on the love seat. Raegan did her normal thing of playing on the floor while watching Elmo. Well... I guess I fell asleep for a minute or two. When I awoke, I looked over at the love seat and this is what I saw: (I guess we were all tired - That's Bristo & Raegan lying on Hannah)

Then today when we got out of church... it was snowing! Really hard. We got home and stepped out for a second. But we realized it was really cold and wet! Here are a couple shots:

Finally... here is a shot of the table and chairs I got at IKEA. We still need to paint it. We're thinking something like brick red would be good. In the pictures below, Raegan is hosting her new cat to a sit at the new table.

Well... that's it for now. Maybe we'll still get a couple more posts in before Hudson arrives!
